O dontectomy or process of lifting the impacted teeth through surgery is a common practice everyday that oral surgeon used to daily. Odontectomy often cause pain. This is a challenge for dentist to overcome, because the patient often complain about it. It is needed to choose the right medication to cope the pain. NSAID is usually the right choice and it is common drugs to be used to cope the pain. Potassium diclofenac and sodium diclofenac can inhibit selective COX-2 so Prostaglandin cannot form and the patient’s sore will decrease. The purpose of this a double blind RCT ( Randomized Clinical Trial) research is to take a look at the effectiveness of the both drugs which is potassium diclofenac and sodium diclofenac. There are 28 subjects with the case of impacted 3rd molar teeth, we then divide the subjects into 2 groups (n=14), Then group A were given 50mg of potassium diclofenac and the B groups were given 50mg sodium diclofenac. The pain was then measured by Visual Analogue Scale or VAS. Measurements was did before the extraction procedure then was continued to the 1st day,3rd day and lastly the 7th day after the procedure was executed. This Independent T-test were conducted in analyzing the data. The results of this research shows that there are no actual difference with these 2 drugs (p>0,05) potassium diclofenac and sodium diclofenac has the same effectiveness in inhibiting the pain post odontectomy procedure.
