P usat Sumber Daya Mineral Batubara dan Panas Bumi (PSDMBP)melakukan kegiatan tindak lanjut dari kegiatan prospeksi batubara di KabupatenOgan Komering Ulu, Sumatera Selatan. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan analisispetrografi untuk mengetahui komposisi maseral dan mineral yang terdapat dalammasing-masing conto batubara. Analisis petrografi yang dilakukan adalah analisisreflektansi vitrinit dan analisis komposisi maseral batubara. Conto batubara yangdigunakan berasal dari singkapan batubara pada Formasi Muara Enim di daerahRantau Kumpai, Ogan Komering Ulu, Sumatera Selatan, sebanyak 23 (dua puluhtiga) conto batubara. Berdasarkan hasil analisis yang telah dilakukan, nilaipersentase rata-rata maseral vitrinit 83,8 % ; inertinit 5,3 % ; liptinit 4% danmineral matter 6,9 %. Hasil analisis komposisi maseral batubara menunjukanbahwa batubara di Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ulu, Provinsi Sumatera Selatan,berasal dari jenis tumbuhan yang beragam didominasi oleh tumbuhan berkayu(maseral vitrinit). Sedangkan analisis reflektansi vitrinit berdasarkan klasifikasimenurut ASTM D2798-06 (2006) mempunyai peringkat batubara lignit – subbituminus. Perbedaan variasi tingkat kematangan batubara disebabkan olehtekanan, suhu dan waktu yang diketahui dari stratigrafi batubara daerah penelitiandari arah Barat Daya – Timur Laut tingkat kematangan batubara semakin muda.

In this research a petrographic analysis wasconducted to determine the composition of maseral and minerals contained ineach coal sample. The petrographic analysis carried out was the vitrinite reflectoranalysis and analysis of coal mineral composition. The coal used came from coaloutcrops in the Muara Enim Formation in Rantau Kumpai Region, OganKomering Ulu, South Sumatra, as many as 23 (twenty three) coal samples. Basedon the results of the analysis that has been done, the average percentage value ofvitrinite maseral is 83.8%; inertinite 5.3%; liptinit 4% and mineral matter 6.9%.The results of analysis of coal maceral composition show that coal in the OganKomering Ulu region of South Sumatra Province originates from a variety ofplant species dominated by woody plants (vitrinite maceral). Whereas vitrinitereflectance analysis based on ASTM classification D2798-06 (2006) ranks lignite- sub bituminous coal. The difference in variations in the level of maturity of thecoal is caused by the pressure, temperature and time known from the coalstratigraphy of the study area from Southwest - Northeast of the coal maturitylevel getting younger.
