T he percentage of pregnant women experiencing protein deficiency in DKI Jakarta is 51.95%. Nutritional deficiency, especially protein deficiency, in pregnant women can disrupt fetal development programming. A deficiency in amino acids can increase the expression of VEGF in the process of placental angiogenesis and collagen synthesis in the uterine tissue repair process, which can influence the pathogenesis of placenta previa. The incidence of placenta previa continues to increase due to the rising rate of cesarean section surgeries, which can leave scars on the lower part of the uterus, affecting the vascularity in that area and ultimately impacting placental implantation. The recovery of wounds requires time and an adequate supply of protein. A short interpregnancy interval causes mothers to have a limited time to restore reproductive organ health, especially the uterus. This can increase the risk of changes in the uterine lining, including scar tissue formation in the uterus. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between interpregnancy interval, age, parity, history of cesarean section, and protein adequacy during pregnancy in mothers with placenta previa.METHODThis study uses an analytical cross-sectional observational study design on pregnant women of reproductive age in RSAB Harapan Kita, Jakarta, from January to December 2022. The sample size for this study is 60 participants. Data collection was conducted using medical records and the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) questionnaire. The data will be analyzed using the chi-square statistical test with a significance level of p < 0.05. If the chi-square test assumptions are not met, the researcher will use the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test as an alternative test.RESEARCH RESULTAs many as 46.7% of respondents experienced inadequate protein adequacy (TKP deficit). Among respondents with a short interpregnancy interval, 50% experienced inadequate protein adequacy, while among respondents with a non-short interpregnancy interval, 46% experienced inadequate protein adequacy (p = 0.127). Among pregnant women at risk due to age, 48% experienced inadequate protein adequacy, while among pregnant women not at risk due to age, 45% experienced inadequate protein adequacy (p = 0.273). Among pregnant women with 1-2 children (parity), 38% experienced inadequate protein adequacy. Among pregnant women with more than 2 children, 40% experienced inadequate protein adequacy (p = 0.983). The proportion of inadequate protein adequacy was higher in pregnant women with a short interpregnancy interval, at-risk age, and parity greater than 2 compared to pregnant women with a non-short interpregnancy interval, non-at-risk age, and parity less than 2 children.CONCLUSIONIn conclusion, there is no association between interpregnancy interval, age, parity, and history of cesarean section with protein adequacy level.
