S moking is a habit that caused several disease. Beside chronic disease such as lung cancer, mouth cancer, stroke, smoking also caused a mucosal lesion. Smoker’s melanosis and nicotine stomatitis were two most common lesion found in smoker’s oral mucosa. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between frequency of kretek smoking on Smoker’s melanosis and nicotine stomatitis. The study design of this research is analytical observational. A total of 51 labors of Tanjung Perak port in Surabaya with an age range from 25 – 62 years participated in this study. The case group used to smoke at least 1 cigarette a day since at least 10 years ago. They were interviewed first and then clinically examined. Fisher’s Exact Test and Pearson Chi Square were performed to test the research result. The result show that there were no significant correlations found between the frequency of kretek smoking on smoker’s melanosis (P=0,070) and nicotine stomatitis (P=0,062). The prevalence of smoker’s melanosis found 85,19% on moderate smokers and 100% on heavy smokers while the prevalence of nicotine stomatitis found 14,81% on moderate smokers and 37,5% on heavy smokers. There were no statistic correlation between the frequency of kretek smoking on smoker's melanosis and stomatitis nicotine.Smoking is a habit that caused several disease.
