B BACKGROUND Hypertension is the leading cause of death in adults in developing countries and causes many other comorbidities. Hypertension is a condition where a person's blood pressure reaches 140 mmHg (systolic) and/or 90 mmHg (diastolic). The prevalence of hypertension increases with age where the greatest prevalence is at the age of 60 years and above. Based on Riskesdas 2018, the percentage of hypertension in DKI Jakarta is 33.43%. Hypertension is one of the most important risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). One of the tests that can be done to assess the risk of CVD is the coronary artery calcium (CAC) examination. However, research on the benefits of CAC on hypertension is still very little, especially in Indonesia.METHODThis research is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional design. The number of samples in this study were 163 patients who were taken by consecutive non-random sampling technique. Samples were taken at Siloam Hospital TB Simatupang. Data was obtained from secondary data, namely medical records. Hypothesis analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test using the SPSS program with a significance level of p < 0.05.RESULTSA total of 163 subjects of medical check-up patients who underwent CAC examination participated in this study. Statistical analysis showed that there was a relationship between coronary artery calcium (CAC) score and hypertension (P=0.002).CONCLUSIONBased on the results of the study, there was a relationship between coronary artery calcium (CAC) score and hypertension in the age group of 40-70 years.
