B Background: Entercococcus faecalis is often found in root canal with apicalperiodontitis and failed root canal treatment. The bacteria can adhere to the rootcanal walls, accumulate, and form biofilm. 5,25% sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl)as gold standard in irrigation solutions has an antibacterial effect but it is toxic toperiapical tissue therefore a lot of research to find the latest irrigation solution isstill being done. Objective: To investigate differences in the effect of a mixture ofdoxycycline, acid, and detergent also a mixture of chlorhexidine and EDTA to thegrowth of E. faecalis in vitro. Methods: This research was investigating theinhibition growth of E. faecalis in the petri plate and total colonies counting of E.faecalis bacteria after 32 lower premolar were irrigated with irrigation solutions. The irrigants were accommodated in a sterile petri dish and bacterial cultureswere carried out from each container in a sterile petri to calculated the number ofcolonies. Results: ANOVA One Way showed significant difference from the testedirrigation solutions both against the inhibition growth of E. faecalis and thenumber of the colonies (p < 0,05). Conclusion: There is different effect between amixture of doxycycline, acid, and detergent and a mixture of chlorhexidine andEDTA. As irrigation solution, both of them are less effective than 5,25% NaOCl.
