Uji efek antibiofilm ekstrak daun jambu biji (psidium guajava linn.) terhadap enterococcus faecalis (in vitro)
L atar belakang: Biofilm Enterococcus faecalis merupakan salah satu penyebabterjadinya kegagalan perawatan saluran akar. Keberhasilan perawatan saluran akardicapai dengan fungsi mekanik dan kimiawi. Irigasi merupakan satu-satunya carauntuk mencapai area dinding saluran akar yang tidak dapat dicapai olehinstrumentasi. Daun jambu biji (Psidium guajava Linn.) memiliki kandungansenyawa seperti flavonoid, saponin, tannin, triterpenoid dan minyak atsiri yangmemiliki kemampuan sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan: Mengetahui efek antibiofilmekstrak daun jambu biji (Psidium guajava Linn.) terhadap Enterococcus faecalisMetode: Penelitian eksperimental laboratorik metode mikrodilusi menggunakanbiakan Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 dengan bahan uji ekstrak daun P.guajava konsentrasi 100%, 80%, 60%, 40% dan 20%. Hasil: Pada pengujianekstrak daun P. guajava terhadap biofilm E. faecalis didapatkan konsentrasi 60%memiliki daya hambat yang paling tinggi. Kesimpulan: Ekstrak daun jambu biji(Psidium guajava Linn.) efektif menghambat pertumbuhan biofilm Enterococcusfaecalis.
B ackground: Enterococcus faecalis biofilm is one of the causes of root canaltreatment failure. The success of root canal treatment is achieved by mechanicaland chemical functions. Irrigation is the only way to reach areas of the root canalwall that instrumentation cannot reach. Guava (Psidium guajava Linn.) leavescontain compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, triterpenoids andessential oils which have antibacterial properties. Objective: To determine theanti-biofilm effect of guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava Linn.) on Enterococcusfaecalis Methods: Microdilution method laboratory experimental study usingEnterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212 culture with P. guajava leaf extract assayconcentrations of 100%, 80%, 60%, 40% and 20%. Results: In testing P. guajavaleaf extract against E. faecalis biofilm, it was found that 60% concentration had thehighest inhibition. Conclusion: Guava leaf extract (Psidium guajava Linn.)effectively inhibits Enterococcus faecalis biofilm growth.
