F ormasi Tapak merupakan hasil dari aliran turbidit yang memilikikeunikan geologi dalam hal litofasies. Penelitian dilakukan guna mengetahuilitofasies, asosiasi litofasies dan provenance pengendapan Formasi Tapak padadaerah penelitian. Pengambilan data menggunakan metode stratigrafi terukur yangkemudian dilakukan analisis sehingga menghasilkan data dan pembahasan dalamaspek stratigrafi dan segitiga provenance di daerah aliran sungai Paningkaban,Kecamatan Gumelar, Kabupaten Banyumas, Jawa Tengah. Stratigrafi daerahpenelitian dapat dikelompokan menjadi tiga satuan batuan. Asosiasi fasiesbatupasir – batulempung Formasi Tapak, termasuk dalam lithofasies classicalturbidite dan massive sandstone. Lithofasies batulempung perselingan batupasir“A”, dan batupasir, diinterpretasikan termasuk dalam lingkungan pengendapansmooth suprafan of portion lobes, dan lithofasies batulempung perselinganbatupasir “B” diinterpretasikan termasuk dalam lingkungan pengendapan smooth– channelled yang berada pada middle fan. Pada batupasir Formasi Tapak didaerah penelitian, memiliki komposisi batuan yang dominansi oleh quartz danfeldspar. Berdasarkan sampel pada batupasir Formasi Tapak Daerah Paningkabanberjenis wacke - arenite berada pada tatanan tektonik recycle orogen.

T he Tapak formation is the result of a turbidite stream that has a uniquegeology in terms of lithofacies. The research was conducted to find out litofacies,litofacies association and provenance model of deposition of Tapak Formation inthe research area. Retrieval data using measuring section method which is thenanalyzed so as to produce data that has been done conduce discussion and data interm of stratigraphic aspect and triangle provenance in the Paningkabanwatershed, Paningkaban village and surrounding, Gumelar Sub-District,Purworejo District, Central Java Province. Geographically, Research area’sstratigraphic can be grouped into three rock units. The facies association is in thesandstone-mudstone, particularly in the Tapak Formation. It is part of theClassical Turbidite lithofasies. Interlocking mudstone-sandstone “A” dansandstone are interpreted to be a part of the sedimented region of a SmoothSuprafan Of Portion Lobe and Masive sandstone. interlocking mudstonesandstone“B” interpreted in channel – smooth. The rock composition in theTapak Formation is dominated by quartz dan feldspar, showing that it hassedimented in the mid-fan part of the submarine fan setting. Based on the sampleof the sandstone sediment, the Tapak Formation falls into the wacke type withplutonic origin rocks located in the tectonic order of recycle orogen, specificallythe quartzose recycled.
