S Secara administratif lokasi daerah penelitian terletak di Daerah Lahat, Kabupaten Muara Enim, Provinsi Sumatra Selatan. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengidentifikasi dan memetakan potensi Gas Metana Batubara di daerah Lahat, dengan mengintegrasikan data geologi dan geofisika seperti geologi permukaan, data sumur, seismik, dan data lainnya. Target formasi penelitian adalah Formasi MuaraEnim, dimana formasi ini dikenal sebagai “coal bearing formation”. Berdasarkan data permukaan (survei lapangan), dianalisis 4 zone batubara yaitu coal zone A, coal zone B, coal zone C, dan coal zone D yang kemudian dikorelasikan dengan lapisan batubara pada Formasi MuaraEnim. Sedangkan berdasarkan analisis geofisika (data sumur dan interpretasi seismik). Dilakukan analisis proximate, ultimate dan maceral pada sampel batubara permukaan untuk menentukan kualitas batubara. Selanjutnya untuk menentukan potensi gas metana batubara, dilakukan analisis perhitungan gas content, perhitungan interest area dan perhitungan GIP (Gas In Placed) terhadap ke empat zone batubara.

T The location of this research adminitratively resides at Lahat area, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatera Province. The objectives of this research are to identify and to map the potential of Coal-Bed Methane gas in Lahat area, which is done by integrating both of geologic and geophysics data such as surface geologic condition, well logging and seismic data. This research focuses on the Muara Enim Formation, which is known as “coal bearing formation”. Based on a field survey data, it has been analized of 4 beds of coals (coal zone A, coal zone B, coal zone C, and coal Zone D) which is in next step will be correlated with coal bed at Muara Enim Formation. On the other hand, geophysics analysis (well log and interpretation data), Proximate, ultimate and maceral analysis were done to all of the surface coal samples so that quality of the coal as known as heat ranks will be identifed. On the next stage-to determine the potential of methane gas in coal, gas content calculation analysis, interest area calculation and GIP (Gas In Placed) were done to all of those 4 layers.
