K Karakterisasi White Layer SKD 61 Hasil Proses Powder MixedElectric Discharge Machining Dengan Fluks Welding Electrode E8018Pemesinan dengan Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) merupakan proses yangbiasa dilakukan dalam industri manufaktur, terutama untuk mengerjakan materialyang tahan terhadap temperatur yang sulit dikerjakan secara konvensional. Padaperkembangannya, Powder Mixed Electric Discharge Machining (PMEDM)dilakukan dengan menambahkan fluks. Tujuan penambahan fluks E8018 adalahuntuk menipiskan white layer yang terbentuk pada proses pemotongan EDM. Sifatmekanis white layer yang keras, bisa mencapai tiga kali kekerasan logam induk,lazimnya disertai kerapuhan yang tinggi akan mengakibatkan cacat produk.Konsentrasi penambahan fluks welding electrode E8018 pada fluida dielektrik, dankuat arus mempengaruhi kekasaran permukaan, kekerasan, unsur kimia danketebalan white layer, serta warna fluida dielektrik kerosene hasil proses PMEDM.Pengujian yang dilakukan dengan SEM-EDS, micro-vickers, surface roughness,XRD dan XRF. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan ketebalan dan kekerasan white layerterus menurun, serta dapat mengetahui komposisi kimia fluks welding electrodeE8018.

C Characterization of White Layer SKD 61 on Powder Electric Discharge Machining with Fluxes Welding Electrode E8018 Machining with Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) is a common process in the manufacturing industry, especially working with materials that are resistant to temperatures that are difficult to operate conventionally. In its development, Powder Mixed Electric Discharge Machining (PM-EDM) is performed by adding flux. The addition of flux E8018 is intended to thin the white layer formed in theEDM cutting process. The mechanical properties of white layer are hard, can reachthree times the base metal hardness, accompanied by high fragility will result inproduct defects. The concentration of E8018 electrode welding flux in dielectricfluid, and current, affects surface roughness, hardness, chemical element and whitelayer thickness, also color of kerosene dielectric fluid as a result of PMEDMprocess. Tests performed with SEM-EDS, micro-vickers, surface roughness, XRDand XRF. The test results show that the thickness and hardness of the white layercontinues to decrease, also chemical elements of flux E8018 can be known.
