P Periodontitis is an inflammatory response to bacterial infection resulting in loss of attachment and damage of alveolar bone. Aggressive periodontitis is caused by Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is known to be sensitive to antimicrobial such as metronidazole and tetracycline, especially in gel form. The purpose of this research was to compare the effectiveness of the metronidazole gel and tetracycline gel towards growth of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans (in vitro). The laboratoric experimental research was conducted in MJCORE laboratory, Faculty of Dentistry Trisakti University. Twenty five percent metronidazole gel was diluted into 3 concentrations : 12.5%, 6.25%, and 3.125%. Zero point seven percent tetracycline gel was diluted into 3 concentrations 0.35%, 0.175%, and 0.088%. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans was cultured in TSA medium. Each concentration of gel and aquades as negative controls were distributed into the hole and incubated for 3x24 hours. Results the diameter of inhibition zone was measured by caliper. Statistical analysis using one way ANOVA stated that there is significant difference between the respective concentration gel (p < 0,05). However, Post Hoc test stated that there is no significant difference between each gel. Based on this research can be concluded twenty five perce11t metronidazole gel has equivalent ability to zero point seven percent tetracycline gel in inhibiting Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans.
