S Short Message Service (SMS) pertama kali diperkenalkan pada jaringan GSM namun saat ini PT.Telkom telah mengembangkan teknologi SMS via teleponfixed yang diberi nama TelkomSMS dengan menggunakan pesawat telepon khusus yaitu Servic e Message Terminal Equipment (SMTE). Seiring berjalannya waktu penggunaan SMS pun semakin beragam, diantaranya layanan penggunaan poling SMS.Dalam Tugas Akhir ini, membahas analisis penyebab kegagalan pengirimanTelkomSMS dengan nomor tujuan External Short Message Entities (ESME) yang berisi poling SMS. Pengamatan dilakukan pada 4 (empat) sentral Tandem di Jakarta selama bulan Desember 2004 untuk kemudian secara khusus diambil 1 minggu yaitu tanggal 13-19 Desember 2004 sebagai bahan perbandingan .Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan, intensitas trafik terpadat terjadi pada TandemJatinegara sebesar 72,83% sedangkan angka terkecil terjadi pada Tandem Gambir sebesar 0,8%. Secara umum data call ESME dapat dikatakan cukup baik dengan 24,56% \"ERROR\" dan 75,44% \"SUCCESS\' \'. System Failure, Data Missing, dan Unexpected Data Value menempati urutan pertama penyebab status \"ERROR\". Secara wnum penggunaan poling SMS masih sangat kecil, hal ini disebabkan kebiasaan penggunaan SMS melalui seluler dan masih terbatasnya nomor ESME bekerja sama dengan PT. Telkom

S Short Message Service (SMS) is first introduced to GSM network , but now PT. Telkom has developed an SMS technology via fixed telephone named TelkomSMS by using appropriate telephone called Service Message Terminal Equipment (SMTE). As time passes, the usage of SMS are varied, one of them is Polling SMS service.The causes of TelkomSMS sending failure with ESME destination number that contained SMS polling will be discussed in this Final Assignment . Observation was done to 4 (four) Tandem central in Jakarta during Desember 2004 and 13-19th Desember 2004 was taken as comparison .According to the observation result, the highest number of traffic intensity occurredTandem Jatinegarabwith value of 72,83%, while the lowest number occurred in Tandem Gambir with value of 0,8%, In general, ESME data call can be occurred to be good enough with \"ERROR\" of 24,56% and \"SUCCESS\" of 75,44%. System Failure, Data Missing, and Unexpected Data Value was the main cause of \"ERROR\" status. In general SMS polling usage is very low. It is caused by the habit of using SMS through cellular and ESME number that cooperated with PT. Telkom.
