Kelompokperlakuan mendapat tambahan minuman teh hijau Indonesia 3 x sehari 1 mLselama 3 minggu.
S So far, many studies attributed to the cariostatic effect of tea due to the action offluoride content in tea. Though, other previous researches proved that besidesfluoride, there were calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, zinc, cooper, andaluminum. Tea also contains organic components such as tannins, catechin, caffeine, and tocopherol, which demonstrated to be effective in increasing acidresistance of human tooth enamel. However, tannins was reported alter theabsorption and utilization of protein and minerals. The aim of this study was toanalyze the difference in calcium concentration in rats' blood serum before andafter given Indonesian green tea. An animal experimental research had beenconducted using 20 Sprague-Dawley rats (male, 4 weeks of age, 70-90 g) whichwere divided into two groups, control and experimental (n=10 each group). Theexperimental group had been given extra diet with Indonesian green tea 3 timesdaily (1 mL each times) during 3 weeks. Calcium concentrations in all rats' bloodserum were measured by ICPS (Inductively Couple Plasma Spectrophotometry).Statistical analysis with paired t-Test indicated that there was significantdifference fp<0.05) in calcium concentration before (5,461+0.278 mg/dL) andafter (4.408+0.375 mg/dL) given Indonesian green tea, and there was alsosignificant difference in the control group's blood serum before (5.216±0,696mg/dL) and after (4,19±0.567 mg/dL) experimentation.
