Melalui Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) dengan system ratingnya yaitu Greenship, Grand Indonesia Shopping Town mencanangkan target untuk mendapatkan nilai pada rating energy efficiency and conservation dengan sembilan tolok ukurnya yaitu : (1) Policy and energy management plan, (2) Minimum building energy performance, (3) Optimized efficiency building energy performance, (4) Testing recomissioning or retrocomissioning, (5) System energy performance, (6) Energy monitoring and control, (7) Operation and maintenance, (8)On site renewable enrgy, (9) Less energy emission. Untuk mendapatkan nilai-nilai dalam tolok ukur tersebut maka Grand Indonesia Shopping Town (GIST) membuat suatu perencanaan strategi untuk mendapatkan sertifikasi bangunan hijau ditinjau dari rating energy efficiency and conservation sehingga berimbas pada efisiensi dalam penggunaan energi listrik, mengurangi biaya operasional dan juga menurunkan emisi karbon CO2 dari kegiatan operasional.
