Abstrak
Abstract

L Latar Belakang: Obat tradisional merupakan alternatif yang digunakanmasyarakat dalam dunia medis karena relatif mudah dijangkau dan murah, salahsatunya cengkeh (Syzygium aromaticum). Syzygium aromaticum memilikikandungan minyak atsiri dengan senyawa eugenol merupakan kandungan utamayang mempunyai efek antibakteri. Prevalensi karies di Indonesia berdasarkanRISKESDAS 2018 di 88,8% dan salah satu penyebabnya dikarenakan bakteriStreptococcus mutans. Tujuan: untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh ekstrakminyak atsiri Syzygium aromaticum dengan konsentrasi 100%, 50%, 25%, 12,5%dan 6,25% terhadap daya hambat Streptococcus mutans. Metode: Penelitianeksperimental laboratorik dengan metode broth dilution test. Bahan uji penelitianini yaitu ekstrak minyak atsiri bunga Syzygium aromaticum dengan metode destilasiuap. Ekstrak minyak atsiri dibuat menjadi konsentrasi 100%, 50%, 25%, 12,5% dan6,25%. Klorheksidin dan eugenol murni sebagai kontrol positif, DMSO 1% +Tween 80 0,5% dan S. mutans sebagai kontrol negatif. Data dianalisis uji normalitasSaphiro-Wilk, data yang dihasilkan tidak terdistribusi normal dilanjutkan denganuji Kruskal-Wallis. Hasil: terdapat hambatan pertumbuhan S. mutans padakonsentrasi 100% dengan nilai median 2 (1-2) x 105 CFU/mL Kesimpulan:Ekstrak minyak atsiri Syzygium aromaticum pada konsentrasi 100% dapatmenghambat pertumbuhan S. mutans setara dengan eugenol murni.

B Background: Traditional medicine is an alternative that people use in the medicalworld because it is relatively easy to reach and cheap, one of which is clove(Syzygium aromaticum). Syzygium aromaticum contains essential oils with theeugenol compound being the main ingredient which has antibacterial effects. Theprevalence of caries in Indonesia based on RISKESDAS 2018 is 88.8% and one ofthe causes is the Streptococcus mutans bacteria. Objective: to determine the effectof Syzygium aromaticum essential oil extract with concentrations of 100%, 50%,25%, 12.5% and 6.25% on the inhibitory power of Streptococcus mutans. Method:Experimental laboratory research using the broth dilution test method. The testmaterial for this research is Syzygium aromaticum flower essential oil extract usingthe steam distillation method. Essential oil extracts are made into concentrations of100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5% and 6.25%. Chlorhexidine and pure eugenol as positivecontrols, DMSO 1% + Tween 80 0.5% and S. mutans as negative controls. The datawere analyzed by the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, the resulting data was notnormally distributed, followed by the Kruskal-Wallis test. Results: There wasinhibition of S. mutans growth at a concentration of 100% with a media value of 2(1-2) x 105 CFU/mL. Conclusion: Syzygium aromaticum essential oil extract at aconcentration of 100% can inhibit the growth of S. mutans on a par with pureeugenol.
