C omparative analysis of the use of drilling mud types is done by looking at the parameters of the hole size and rate of penetration (ROP) conditions. The S and K wells are development wells on the PDDK-14 field in Subang, West Java. In the wells, using the type of water based mud (WBM), namely KCL polymer. While the well-k uses a type of high pressure water-based mud (HPWBM) drilling mud, namely the KLA-Shield. The results of a comparative analysis of mud in the well-s with the well-k performed by using while logging tool drilling (LWD) logs, to evaluate the value of hole size and rate of penetration (ROP) at every formation in the trajectory 12 ¼ ". In the cibulakan formation on route 12 ¼ "the average hole size is 12.41 inch for the s well. Whereas in the formation of cibulakan for k-wells, the average hole size is 12.30 inch. In the Baturaja formation on route 12 didapatkan "the average hole size is 12.43 inch for the s well. Whereas in the Baturaja formation for the k-well, the average hole size is 12.30 inch. Based on research by looking at the value of the rate of penetration (ROP) in the well-s and the well-k on the route 12 ¼ "in formation Cibulakan obtained a value of 30.40 meters / hours (m / hr) and 32.82 meters / hours (m / hr). Whereas in the Baturaja formation in the wells and wells, the values were 10.05 meters / hours (m / hr) and 44.33 meters / hours (m / hr). Based on the hole size and rate of penetration (ROP) analysis, the type of kla-shield mud is more effective in reactive formation conditions.
