P PT. Indonesia Toray Synthetics is a textile company that manufactures various types of yarrn, which is produced one type of filament yam type 50-24-260. Fixes and improvements made on an ongoing basis so that companies can competent survive with any other company. Quality is a very important factor for consumers in determining which products will be selected. In the production process, there are two process, namely Spinning and After Treatment (drawing). Drawing process is a process that produces the largest defect in this product, therefore PT. Indonesia Toray Synthetics want to know that factors casue the percentage of defects in this drawing process. In these case, problem solving with Six Sigma methods, the methods used to provide solutions to reduce product defects generated in the process of drawing, so that the percentage of product failures can be decreased each period. By using the stages of DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) on Six Sigma, the proportion of defects, the DPMO, sigma's level, and cause problems can be detected. From observation, the proportion of defects in the month of October 2011 reached 0,127, a value of 75.669 DPMO and sigma's level of 2,935. Analysis of failure models and solve solutions performed with ishikawa diagram and method of FMEA (Failure Mode Effect and Analysis), in which the cause of defects is due to the use and setting the machine that does not comply with the type of yam. Given the proposal is a change in engine speed setting long draw twister with a new monitoring form and made to adjust the machine setting to the type of yam produced. Once the implementation is done, the proportion of defects decreased to 1,104, with values 49.731 DPMO and sigma's level of 3,147.
