C Cohousing is an approach to designing a residential environment that emphasizes the existence of a "Community Life" culture. In the Cohousing site plan form, there is a space zoning system, namely: Private Houses that surround a collection of Communal Spaces (Common Network). On the other hand, Kampung Ikan Kluncing in East Java and Kampung Sayur Bausasran in Yogyakarta are two different village communities with each resident having a common goal, namely to change the behavior of community members through the provision of communal spaces within their village environment. This study aims to identify the main indicators of the concept of Cohousing in the two village communities and to identify the relation between the communal space on the behavior of village community members. The descriptive qualitative narative research method was chosen to examine: Primary Data Sources, in the form of observations, documentation and interviews conducted on the research object, and Secondary Data Sources, in the form of a collection of information from documents related to the research object. This research study was conducted on: Communal Space and Community Activities of the two village communities. It was concluded that the two village communities shared similar characteristics with the concept of Cohousing. This is seen based on 3 Cohousing indicators, namely: Sense of Safety, Contractual Community, and Contractual Character. On the other hand, changes in the behavior of the two members of the village community were analyzed using the theory of 9 Design Guiding Elements, related to the analysis of: User-Maker of Space, Content of Space, and Designing Process of Space, it was concluded that Communal Space is the main means for community members' activities in achieving common goals of the community. Furthermore, through the translation process of "Language of Space", observations were made on the process of designing the Communal Space which was influenced by various events of human behavior in the two village communities. This is driven by the existence of human needs for the space itself, namely: Stimulation, Security, and Identity.
