B BACKGROUND Disorders of lipid profiles have a very close relationship with diabetes mellitus and heart disease. Dyslipidemia causes a narrowing of blood vessels that can aggravate the condition of hypertension and diabetes mellitus. Mortality in hypertension can increase when accompanied by cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension. This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between diabetes mellitus with a lipid profile in patients with hypertension METHOD This research is an observational analytic study. The research subjects were hypertensive patients at Seto Hasb Hospital in Bekasi. Assessment of lipid profile and diabetes mellitus is obtained through secondary data from medical records. Assessment of lipid profiles was obtained from measurements of HDL, LDL, Triglycerides and total cholesterol levels. The relationship of diabetes mellitus with lipid profiles was analyzed statistically by the T-Independent test.RESULTSA total of 80 research subjects with hypertension became the subject of research. Distribution of diabetes mellitus obtained 51 subjects (53.70%) and hypertension without diabetes mellitus 29 subjects (36.30%). Distribution of levels of total cholesterol, LDL and high TG was obtained by 64 subjects (80%). The distribution of total cholesterol, low LDL and TG was 16 subjects (20%). Distribution of high HDL levels obtained 54 subjects (66.25%) and low HDL obtained 27 subjects (33.75%). The results showed a significant relationship between DM with total cholesterol (p = 0,000), HDL (p = 0,000), LDL (0,000) and TG (0,021). CONCLUSION There is a relationship between diabetes mellitus and lipid profiles in hypertensive patients
