P PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper merupakan perusahaan yang memproduksi Packaging Paper. Permasalahan jenis kecacatan pada hasil produksi perusahaan pada proses produksi White Paper Grade IP dengan tingkat kecacatan tertinggi sebesar 7.04% jika dibandingkan dengan target kecacatan dari perusahaan sebesar 2%. Sehingga diperlukan upaya untuk memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kualitas proses produksi. Terdapat 5 Critical to Quality yang diidentifikasi, yaitu Dirty, Blackspot, Dimension Stability, Calendar Mark, dan Folded. Nilai DPMO dari produk White Paper Grade IP ini adalah sebesar 31325.3 yaitu setara dengan tingkat sigma sebesar 3.35 sigma. Berdasarkan perhitungan Risk Priority Number (RPN) pada FMEA Nilai RPN tertinggi pada proses pulping adalah 384 dan pada proses paper making adalah 448. Berdasarkan nilai RPN tertinggi dibuat fault tree untuk mejabarkan penyebab-penyebab potensial tersebut secara mendasar hingga basic event. Dengan menerapkan usulan perbaikan yang dilakukan berdasarkan hasil analisis FMEA dan FTA adalah dengan penggantian screen pada mesin dan menerapkan simulasi Design of Experiment (DOE) pada setup mesin dan berdasarkan simulasi dihasilkan setup mesin yang paling optimal adalah pada kecepatan 660rpm, tekanan 17psi, dan 30 derajat celcius. Implementasi perbaikan penggantian screen dilakukan selama 28 hari. didapatkan nilai DPMO 20925 dan tingkat sigma sebesar 3.54 sigma. Selain itu, dengan penerapan simulasi DOE dapat memberikan setup mesin yang optimal bagi perusahaan. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terjadi penurunan nilai DPMO sebesar 10400 dan peningkatan nilai tingkat sigma sebesar 0.18 sigma.

P PT. Indah Kiat Pulp & Paper is a producer of packaging paper that needed for commodity services inside and outside Indonesia, so the product need to be maintain at a certain level of quality to ensure the customer on purchasing the products. If the products contain type of defects, customer cannot use their products. The defects problem mainly occur on White Paper Grade IP with defect percentage of 7.04% and above the company target of 2%. That’s the highest defect percentage comparing to other Paper Grade. In terms of solving issues in quality in the production line, the quality improvement focusing on minimizing and decreasing defects level in White Paper Grade IP production line using Six Sigma frameworks. There are 5 CTQ in White Paper Grade IP, such as Dirty, Blackspot, Dimension Stability, Calendar Mark, and Folded. Based on the calculation using Statistical Process Control, the result of DPMO and Sigma Level for current production of White Paper Grade IP are 31325.3 and 3.35 sigma. From the FMEA we got 2 biggest RPN from 2 different processes. On the Pulping process with 384 and on the Paper Making process the value of RPN is 448. There are 2 Fault Tree from each process, first we got the biggest basic event in Paper Making process is 0.31 and the basic event is there are no screen changing in the last six months. And the second Fault Tree is based of Pulping Process with the biggest basic event in there are no optimal setup for the machine with probability of 0.241. The improvement is made based on two basic events. Design of Experiments simulation is also used to determine the optimum setup for paper machine, and based on the simulation, the optimum setup for the paper machine is when speed at 660rpm, pressure at 17psi, and temperature at 30 degree Celsius. After we re-calculate the data after improvement were made. The improvement plans successfully managed to improve the quality of White Paper Grade IP production process and has implication of increasing sigma level by 0.18 sigma.
