G General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) is a non-voice service that allows sending and receiving information over the mobile phone network. In theory GPRS provide access speeds between 56 Kbps to 115 Kbps. HSDPA (high speed downlink packet access) is a latest technology in mobile telecommunication systems issued by the 3GPP 5 and is a 3.5-generation technology (3,5 G). HSDPA has a data packet-based service in WCDMA downlink with data reaching 14 Mbps and 5 MHz bandwidth. In this analysis discusses the comparison of GPRS and HSDPA networks. quality of service parameters that are used in comparing the GPRS network and HSDPA networks are delay, jitter, throughput, packet loss. By way of testing using the 'MG' command in the command prompt that means to test the network connection to get sufficient jitter and packet loss parameters, using a speed test to get the parameters of throughput and VAR formula in excel to get the delay. From the test results obtained by using the HSDPA network that is better than using the GPRS network. From the results of data using HSDPA network packet loss obtained at most of these networks is 6% while in the GPRS 16%, for the highest delay value that is happening in the busy hour, where the GPRS network reaches 1430 ms while the HSDPA network reaches 658 ms, the highest jitter value occur in sub-urban areas, on the GPRS network and HSDPA networks ms 573,880.3 630,593.4 ms ie, downlink throughput value was highest in non-busy hours of urban areas to the GPRS network of 0.21 Mbps for HSDPA network while at 0.38 Mbps, the highest throughput value which occurs also in non-busy hours of urban areas to the GPRS network of 0.10 Mbps and HSDPA networks have a smaller value of 0.06 Mbps. Thus it can be seen that the QOS parameters on the HSDPA network is better than using the GPRS network.
