T The development of information and communication technologies progressed in such a fast pace that it already affected every aspect of human life, one of them being gadgets. According to Kominfo, the number of gadget users in 2017 reached 143.26 million or equivalent to 54.68 percent of the total population of Indonesia and the majority of the users 80% were teenagers aged 15-19 years old. Adolescents are prone to be influenced by various impacts from the outside. Forms of social interaction in the family that is affected by the usage of a gadget can change the function of the family itself.METHOD This research used analytic observational approach with cross sectional study design and involved teenagers aged 15-17 years as respondents. Data was collected by asking the respondents to fill out the questionnaires for sociodemographic characteristics, duration of gadget use and family functioning. The data collected then was analyzed using Statistical program Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) Version 23 RESULTSThe results of 198 respondents showed that the majority of adolescents were female aged 15-17 years with various ethnicities such as Javanese, Sundanese, Betawi and who dominated the use of the gadget. Adolescents whose fathers and mother already finished their high school dominated the use of the gadget. The Pearson Chi square test results gave the p-value of 0.063, it could be concluded that there was no connection between the long use of the gadget with a family function in adolescents CONCLUSIONThis research showed that there was no connection between duration of gadget sse and family functioning
