B Background: The dimensional change from primary teeth to permanent teeth cancause malocclusion. When this situation occurs, interceptive orthodontic treatmentcan be made to prevent more severe malocclusion early on. The treatment that canbe done during the mixed dentition period is interceptive orthodontic treatment.Early examination of the mixed dentition population requires an index to measurethe level of need for orthodontic treatment using the Index Of OrthodonticTreatment Need (IOTN) and Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI). Objective: This studyaims to determine the level of need for orthodontic treatment based on the Index OfOrthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN), to determine the level of need for orthodontictreatment based on the Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI), and to determine thecorrelation of need for orthodontic treatment based on the Index Of OrthodonticTreatment Need (IOTN) and Dental Aesthetic Index (DAI). Methods: This type ofresearch is an analytic observational study with a cross-sectional research design.Result: Based on the Spearman's rho test results, a significance value of 0.905 (sig<0.05) was obtained. The strength of the relationship was 0.023, which means avery weak correlation between variables. While the direction of the correlation wasfound to be minus (-0.023), which means that the coefficient is negative, so therelationship between variables is not unidirectional. Conclusion: There is nosignificant correlation between the need for orthodontic treatment based on IOTNand DAI in patients aged 9-11 years at RSGM-P Fakultas Kedokteran GigiUniversitas Trisakti.
