A ABSTRACTPopulation growth, social activities, and land availability affect environmental quality, including flood events in the Juana Watershed (DAS Juana). This study analyzes the relationship between vegetation density and surface runoff coefficients in the Juana Watershed using Landsat 7 (2009, 2013) and Landsat 8 (2018, 2023) satellite imagery. The research employs a Supervised Machine Learning approach with the Random Forest algorithm using Google Earth Engine (GEE) and ArcGIS. The analysis includes land cover classification, Land Surface Temperature (LST), Temperature Vegetation Dryness Index (TVDI), and Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The results indicate an 8.05% increase in built-up land, leading to a 5.8% rise in surface temperature (35°C–40°C). A 0.12% decrease in vegetation density in 2009 contributed to a 42% increase in the surface runoff coefficient, with a C value of 0.129. Since 2010, government-led vegetation rehabilitation efforts have increased vegetation density by 48.9%, yet the use of production vegetation still influences surface runoff levels.
