Kajian tentang kinerja instalasi pengolahan air limbah tekstil (studi kasus PT Five Star, Bandung)
P PT Five Star adalah sebuah pabrik tekstil yang berlokasi di kota Bandung. Proses produksi yang dilakukan PT Five Star adalah pemintalan, penenunan, pencelupan, pencetakan, dan border. Air limbah yang dihasilkan oleh kegiatan-kegiatan tersebut mempunyai nilai Ph rata-rata 8, TSS 129 mg/l, BOD5 495.33 mg/l, dan COD 995 mg/l. Debit timbulan air limbah rata-rata 69.01 m3/hari. Fluktuasi debit dan karakteristik air limbah sangat tinggi.Sebelum dibuang ke lingkungan, air limbah tersebut diolah dalam sebuah instalasi pengolahan air limbah (IPAL). Pengolahan utama dalam IPAL adalah sedimentasi dan stabilisasi. Proses sedimentasi dibantu dengan koagulan ferro sulfat dan kapur. Air limbah hasil pengolahan IPAL masih belum memenuhi baku mutu.Problem utama IPAL PT Five Star adalah kapasitas pengolahan biologis yang tidak mencukupi, dimensi unit mixing yang terlalu besar, tidak tersedianya unit flokulasi, dan dimensi bak ekualisasi yang tidak memadai.Untuk memperbaiki kinerja IPAL, penulis merekomendasikan pembesaran volume bak ekualisasi menjadi 150 m3, konversi bak mixing menjadi dua bak mixing baru bervolume 0.216 m3 dan tiga bak flokulasi bervolume 0.648 m3, kontrol pH dengan penambahan asam, dan perluasan bak stabilisasi menjadi 703 m2 dan perayaam kedalaman bak stabilisasi menjadi 1.5 m.
