B ackground: Dental erosion is defined as loss of dental hard tissue caused by acid exposure without the involvement of bacteria. Dental erosion was often found in swimming athletes due to exposure of chlorinated swimming pool water. No studies were found about dental erosion and chlorinated swimming pool water in South Jakarta. Objective: To determine the relationship between chlorine levels on swimming pool water and dental erosion in swimming athletes aged 1318 years in South Jakarta. Method: Observational analytic method is used and designed as a Cross Sectional study. Research subjects were swimming athletes in South Jakarta aged 13-18 years old. This research used clinical examinations of dental erosion according to the Lussi index measurement. Result: The Coefficient Contingency test shows there is a significant relationship between the chlorine level of swimming pool water and dental erosion in swimming athletes, (p (< 0,01). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between chlorine levels on swimming pool water and dental erosion at anterior teeth labial surface amongst the 13-18 years old swimming athletes at Jakarta Selatan.
