K ematian horizontal berkontribusi 59% terhadap insiden kematian bayi di Indonesia. Kematian neonatal di Indonesia dipengaruhi oleh berbagai faktor seperti usia ibu, pendidikan, dan kemiskinan, terutama di daerah pedesaan. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh dari laporan Pusat Kesehatan Umum Jambi Bulian pada tahun 2016 ada 10 kematian neonatal dari 711 bayi yang lahir, menyebabkan angka kematian provinsi Jambi jauh dari SDGs, yaitu 12 kematian per 1.000 kelahiran hidup. Menjelajahi penentu sosial kesehatan terhadap non-kematian di wilayah kerja Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat Muara Bulian. Penelitian analitik observasional dengan pendekatan studi kasus. Penelitian ini dilakukan di area kerja Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat Muara Bulian dengan total 13 responden, diwawancarai menggunakan kuesioner Riset Kesehatan Dasar SDKI 2007. Analisis univariat menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan bivariat dengan menggunakan uji Chi Square: ditemukan 76,9% kematian neonatal terjadi pada wanita berusia 20 hingga 35 tahun, laki-laki neonatal 53,8%, berat lahir ≤ 2500 gram, dan usia kehamilan ≤37 minggu. 61,5% pada paritas multipara, 61,5% tanpa KB, 69,2% ANC ≥ 4 kali. 69,2% kematian terjadi di daerah pedesaan, 76,9% ibu bekerja dan pendapatan ≤ UMP, 46,2% lulus dari perguruan tinggi. 76,1% dari kematian adalah dengan asisten pengiriman dokter, 53,8% adalah antenatal di puskesmas, dan 84,6% dengan komplikasi persalinan. Ada hubungan yang signifikan antara perawatan kesehatan dan kematian neonatal (p = 0,006)
