P PT XYZ, perusahaan pertambangan di Kabupaten Paser, Kalimantan Timur, menghadapi masalah akibat curah hujan tinggi yang menyebabkan peningkatan volume air di area tambang seluas 27.460 Ha yang memiliki salah satu settling pond yang menampung air limpasan dari daerah tangkapan air seluas 299,16 Ha. Masalah ini mengganggu proses pengendapan dan pengolahan air limbah di settling pond, karena debit air yang tidak terkendali sehingga terjadi turbulensi pada air dan menyebabkan pengendapan partikel padat tidak efektif akibat terlarutnya padatan dalam air, menurunkan kualitas air hasil pemurnian, dan berpotensi mencemari lingkungan. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, PT XYZ berencana membangun detention pond yang berfungsi menahan air sementara dan mengendalikan debit air sebelum masuk ke settling pond. Dengan detention pond, diharapkan turbulensi pada air berkurang, proses pengendapan lebih efektif, kualitas air meningkat, dan dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan diminimalkan. Stabilitas dan kekuatan bangunan penahan air detention pond perlu dipastikan agar berfungsi optimal dan menghindari kelongsoran. Hasil analisis menunjukkan nilai rata-rata SRF (tanpa variasi ketinggian air 0%) berkisar antara 5,14 hingga 5,63 dan nilai rata-rata total displacement antara 0,356 hingga 0,749 meter untuk berbagai lebar berm menggunakan material timbunan mudstone. nilai rata-rata SRF untuk berbagai lebar berm menggunakan material timbunan sandstone (tanpa variasi ketinggian air 0%) berkisar antara 5,00 hingga 5,54 dan nilai rata-rata total displacement antara 0,5 hingga 1,288 meter. Ketinggian air maksimal yang dapat ditampung bangunan penahan air adalah 100%. Berdasarkan hasil pemodelan dengan software RS2, direkomendasikan bangunan penahan air dengan lebar berm 5 meter, ketinggian bangunan 5 meter, kemiringan bangunan sebesar 45° menggunakan material timbunan mudstone.

This problem disrupts the process of settling and treating wastewater in the settling pond, because the uncontrolled water discharge causes turbulence in the water and causes ineffective settling of solid particles due to dissolved solids in the water, reducing the quality of purified water, and potentially polluting the environment. To overcome this problem, PT XYZ plans to build a detention pond that functions to hold water temporarily and control water discharge before entering the settling pond. With the detention pond, it is expected that turbulence in water is reduced, the settling process is more effective, water quality is improved, and negative impacts on the environment are minimized. The stability and strength of the detention pond needs to be ensured in order to function optimally and avoid landslides. The analysis results show that the average value of SRF (without 0% water level variation) ranges from 5,14 to 5,63 and the average value of total displacement is between 0,356 to 0,749 meters for various berm widths using mudstone fill material. The average value of SRF for various berm widths using sandstone fill material (without 0% water level variation) ranges from 5,00 to 5,54 and the average value of total displacement is between 0,5 to 1,288 meters. The maximum water level that can be accommodated by the retaining wall is 100%. Based on the modeling results with RS2 software, a water retaining structure with a berm width of 5 meters, a building height of 5 meters, and a building slope of 45° is recommended using mudstone fill material.
