Abstract

H Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh oleh Riset Kesehatan Dasar (RISKESDA, 2007) menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi masalah kesehatan gigi pada kelompok umur 6-12 tahun mencapai 69%. Pendidikan kesehatan gigi (PKG) yang diberikan sejak dini dapat mengubah tindakan seseorang melalui niat yang sudah direalisasikan dalam bentuk perilaku. Keberhasilan PKG memerlukan faktor pendukung yaitu penyampaian PKG yang efektif melalui metode demonstrasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendidikan kesehatan gigi dengan metode demonstrasi terhadap tindakan murid sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan pre and post test design. Besar sampel sebanyak 50 orang murid kelas V SD Bakti Mulya 400 Jakarta. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini menggunakan kuesioner dimana murid mengisi kuesioner sebelum dan sesudah menerima PKG. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis persentase dan uji beda (t-test). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan signifikan terhadap tindakan murid sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan PKG.

P Publicâ€™s behavior on the maintenance of oral health is still very low. This is one of the factors that led to the high number of people suffering from oral disease. Results from the Basic Health Research (RISKESDA, 2007) showed that the prevalence of dental health problems in the age group of 6-12 years old reached 69%. Early dental health education (DHE) can change a person's actions through intentions that have been realized in the behavioral forms. The success of DHE requires effective DHE delivery method through demonstration as the supporting factor. This study aims to determine the effect of dental health education with demonstrative method on the actions of elementary school students. This is an experimental study with pre and post test design. The samples are 50 fifth grade students from Bakti Mulya 400 Elementary School Jakarta. This study used questionnaire as the data collection technique in which students fill out a questionnaire before and after receiving demonstrative DHE. The data is analyzed through percentage analysis and t-test. The results show significant differences in the oral and dental health actions of the students before and after DHE as proven by p value of 0.00058 (p< 0.05) with 21.24 mean value of the studentsâ€™ actions before DHE and 22.64 after DHE. This represents an increase of 6.6%. In conclusion, DHE using demonstrative method affects the actions of oral and dental health maintenance on elementary school children
