E Endodontic treatment may be divided into three phases, preparation of the root canal, sterilization of the root canal and obturation. Obturation is the most critical step and causes of most treatment failures. One of the objectives of successful endodontic treatment is total obturation of the root canal system. To achieve this, the root canal filling must seal the canal walls three dimensional, apically, laterally, and coronally in order to prevent the ingress of microorganism or tissue fluids into canal space. Therefore, to get the complete obturation, sealer is used. Sealers in use today can be divided into some group, zinc oxide eugenol, calsium hydroxide, resin and glass ionomer. Sealer is used to fill any irregularities and minor discrepancies between gutta percha and the canal walls, and also act as lubricant during obturation and may fill any patent accessory canal and multiple foramina.
