K Kata Medan merupakan salah satu kota berpenduduk terbesar di Indonesia dan memiliki PDAM tersendiri yaitu PDAM Tirtanadi Medan Sumatera Utara. PDAM Tirtanadi melayani air minum untuk penduduk Kotamadya Medan dan beberapa kota lain disekitamya. PDAM Tirtanadi memiliki beberapa instalasi dengan total kapasitas 3750 liter/detik. Kebutuhan air minum daerah pelayanan Kata Medan dan sekitamya dengan penduduk sekitar 3.084.308 jiwa,'-menjadi kewajiban PDAM Tirtanadi Medan di Tahun2004 adalah sebesar 6331 Liter/detik. Sehingga kekurangan produksi air minum untuk tahun 2004 menjadi 2827 Liter/detik dan diperkirakan supplai air minum dari IPAM Deli Tua pada daerah pelayanannya di daerah Selatan Kata llJledan akan membutuhkan sekitar 2100 Liter/detik sedangkan kapasitas IPAM Deli Tua 1400 Liter/detik, jadi masih perlu dikembangkan dari pasokan air minum IPAM Deli Tua sebesar 700 Liter/detik lagi. Oleh karena itu direncanakan penambahan bangunan pengolahan air minum pada lnstalasi Deli Tua tahap I dengan kapasitas 350 Liter/detik dan perencanaan bangunan pengolahan air minum berdasarkan atau mengacu pada bangunan Existing.lnstalasi Existing terdiri dari saringan kasar dan halus, 2(dua) unit prasedimentasi dimana setiap unit memilki 2 (dua) sel, dengan 1 (satu) zone inlet dan 1 (satu) zone outlet. Masing-masing unit dengan panjang 23 m, lebar 1 Om, tinggi 3m, dan detention time atauwaktu kontak 20 menit. Kapasitas pompa yang dioperasikan lntalasi Pengolahan AirMinum Deli Tua saat ini adalah sebesar 1400 Liter/detik dan maksimum sebesar 1500Liter/detik, dengan mengoperasikan 4 pompa intake dan 1 pompa intake sebagai cadangan. Unit Clarifier terdiri dari 4 (empat) unit clarifier dengan masing-masing kapasitas 350 Liter/detik dan 1 unit bak pembagi atau spliter box, 24 unit bak Filter dengan kapasitas masing-masing 60 Liter/detik. Unit reservoir dengan panjang 50 m, lebar 40m, dan tinggi 6m maka volume reservoir ini adalah 12000m3.Perencanaan penambahan bangunan Pengolahan air minum yang baru dengan kapasitas 350 Liter/detik terdiri dari, Saluran (channel) kapasitas 1000 Liter/detik (tahap w1-2), prasedimentasi kapasitas 800 Liter/detik (tahap1-2), pompa air baku 500 Liter/detik. (5 unit pompa) pada tahap 1, tangki (pit) Air baku 800 Liter/detik (tahap 1-2), 1 unit Clarifier kapasitas 350 Liter/detik (tahap 1), dan 6 unit filter dengan kapasitas masing• masing 70 Liter/detik, 1 unit reservoir terdiri dari 2 bagian masing-masing bagian~erdimensi 16x32x4m, 5 buah pompa distribusi, dan pemakaian bahan kimia yaitu tawas, klorin dan kapur. Total biaya seluruh kebutuhan pembangunan instalasi air minum yaitu sebesar Rp 9,346,667,898

Each unit with length 23 m, wide 1 Om, high 3m, and time detention or time contact20 minute. operated by pump capacities is Installation Processing Of Drinking Water of Deli Tua in this time is equal to 1400 litre/second and maximum equal to 1500 litre/second, by operating 4 pump of intake and 1 pump of intake as reserve. Unit of Clarifier consist of 4 (four) of clarifiers with the each capacities 350 litre/second and 1 divisor basin unit or of splitter box, 24 basins unit of rapid sand Filter with each capacities60 litre/second. The total cost amount of entire requirements of drinking water development will be equal to IDR 9,346,667,898
