L Latar Belakang: Banyak faktor yang dapat menyebabkan patahnya instrumen seperti jenis paduan logam yang dipakai, fleksibilitas, sifat cyclic fatigue, dan besar lengkungan suatu saluran akar. Tujuan: Perbedaan cyclic fatigue pada WaveOne Gold dan ProTaper Gold terhadap saluran akar ekstrim. Metode: Subjek yang digunakan untuk masing masing instrumen berupa tiga ProTaper Gold F2 dan tiga WaveOne Gold Primary, masing-masing sampel diujikan pada saluran akar buatan yang terbuat dari alumunium dengan kelengkungan 90° . Waktu dihitung sejak instrumen berputar dalam saluran akar buatan hingga mengalami cyclic faitgue. Uji analisis dengan menggunakan uji T tidak berpasangan. Hasil: Uji T tidak berpasangan didapatkan p value sebesar 0,003. Karena p value pada penelitian ini p < 0,05, maka terdapat perbedaan bermakna signifikan. Kesimpulan: bahwa WaveOne Gold Primary lebih tahan terhadap cyclic fatigue bila dibandingkan dengan ProTaper Gold F2 pada saluran akar ekstrim.

I Introduction: Many factors can cause fracture of instruments such as the type of metal alloy used, flexibility, cyclic fatigue, and the arch of a root canals. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the cyclic fatigue resistance of WaveOne Gold and ProTaper Gold on severely curved root canal. Method: Three ProTaper Gold F2 and WaveOne Gold Primary instrument were include in this study. All the instruments were rotated in artificial canals, which were made of alumunium with a 90° angle of curvature. The time to fracture was recorded start from the instrument was rotated in artificial canals. The data were analyzed statistically using independent T-test. Result: The analyzed statistically using independent T-test obtained p value sebesar 0,003. There was statistically significant difference ( p < 0,05). Conclusion: It was found that cyclic fatigue resistance of WaveOne Gold was higher than the cyclic fatigue of ProTaper Gold on severely curved root canal.
