R Radikal bebas diinduksi lewat berbagai sumber eksogen dan endogen.Ketidak seimbangan antara radikal bebas dengan antioksidan dapat menyebabkan stress oksidatif dan kerusakan oksidatif pada sel. Stres oksidatif berdampak buruk terhadap makromolekul seperti DNA, lipid, dan protein sehingga menghasilkan produk mutagenik. Ketika stressstress oksidatif melebihi kapasitas reduksi-oksidasi maka mutasi gen dapat terjadi sehingga menyebabkan terjadinya proses karsinogenesis. Mutasi pada gen pengatur siklus sel seperti proto-onkogen dan gen supresor tumor menfasilitasi proses tumor memfasilitasi proses karsinogenesis.Antioksidan enzimatik seperti superoxide dismutase (SOD), gluthathione, katalase (CAT) bertugas bertugas meminimalisir kesempatan terjadinya mutasi tersebut.

F Free radicals induced through exogenous and endogenous sources. The imkbalance between free radicals and antioxidants can cause an oxidative stress and oxidative damage to cells. Oxidative stress adversely affect macromolecules such as DNA, lipids, and proteins that producing mutagenic products. When oxidative stress exceeds the capacity of the reduction-oxidative process, gene mutations can occur that lead to carcinogenesis process. Mutations in cell cycle regulatory genes such as proto-oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes will facilitate the process of carcinogenesis. Enzymatic antioxidants such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), Gluthathione, catalase (CAT) served to minimize the chance of such mutations.
