K Kelebihan besi merupakan konsekuensi klinis jangka panjang akibat tatalaksanapada Talasemia yang mempengaruhi kualitas hidup penderitanya. Kelebihan besidapat menimbulkan gangguan tumbuh kembang seperti perawaan pendek danpubertas terlambat. Cut-off feritin serum 2500 ng/mL. Setiap subjekpenelitian dilakukan pengukuran tinggi badan dan status pubertas menggunakanskala Tanner sebagai data primer. Analisis statistik dilakukan dengan uji Chisquaredengan tingkat kemaknaan p<0,05.HASILRerata kadar ferritin serum 2935±1352 ng/dL, sebanyak 74 orang (64,9%)mempunyai kadar ferritin serum >2500 ng/dL.

I Iron overload is one of the long term clinical consequences that affect quality oflife due to management of Thalassemia. Growth disturbances, such as shortstature and delayed puberty is one of the consequences of iron overload in thesufferer. This study was conducted to determine the distribution of height, growthrate and puberty and its relationship with Ferritin Serum in patients withThalassemia major.MATERIAL AND METHODSAn observational-analytic study with cross-sectional design was conducted onNovember to January 2015, 114 patients aged 10-18 years old with Thalassemiamajor who visited for outpatient in Thalassemia Clinic Hospital in Tangerang,Banten was non-randomized consecutively taken were included in the study. Dataon the characteristics of the subjects, growth velocity and serum ferritin weretaken from the medical records. Cut off serum ferritin is 2500 ng/mL. Eachsubject will be doing the measurement of height and pubertal stage using theTanner scale. Statistical analysis was performed with Chi-square test using 0.05significance level.RESULTSMean Ferritin Serum in all subject was 2935±1352 ng/dL,64,9% had meanFerritin Serum >2500 ng/dL, in male subject 2892,75 ng/dL and female subject3001 ng/dL. Obtained 69.3% of the subjects Talasemia was short, 28.1% had adecreased growth rate and 5.3% of the subjects experienced a delay pubertyaccording to Tanner scale. Analysis of the Chi-square test showed that there wasno statistically significant relationship between Ferritin Serum levels with height(p = 0.906), growth rate (p = 0.889) and pubertal status (p = 1.00).CONCLUSIONThere is no significant correlation between serum ferritin levels with height, speedof growth and pubertal status.
