C Cleft palate in the pierre Robin Syndrome (PRS) found as U and V-shaped cleft, however the form of cleft palate in PRS are more likely U-shaped. Manifestations in the oral and craniofacial of PRS include mandibular hypoplasia, cleft palate, and glossoptosis which often caused problem in the airway obstruction. Genetically, pathogenesis of cleft palate in PRS occurs due to a disturbance in the development of the mandible (micrognathia) that prevents normal movement of the tongue toward the bottom thereby preventing normal fusion of the palate. As the result, the tongue can be pushed to the back, causing airway obstruction.
