L Lost circulation is one of drillings main complications. Lost circulation must be handled because of its high risk to increase the drilling duration and cost. In general, there are several techniques to handle the lost circulation: the application of LCM (Lost Circulation Material), cement plug, blind drilling operation, and aerated drilling. The problem occurred in the drilling process of Well X in Pramuka Field is lost circulation. Based on the data and analysis, the main factors that induced the lost circulation situation are the existence of the natural fractures and cavernous. The drilling of Well X penetrated The Top Soil Formation, Cisubuh Formation, Parigi Formation, Upper Cibulakan Formation, Baturaja Formation and Talangakar Formation. Lost circulation of the 12 ¼ hole section drilling process occurred when the drilling process penetrated the Upper Cibulakan Formation. Three times partial losses were occurred in the drilling of the 12 ¼ hole section in Pramuka Field. There was no complication occurred in the drilling process of the 12 ¼ hole section until the greatest depth of 5968,14 ft MD/ 5754,87 ft TVD. Nonetheless, when the structure series were detached, stuck pipe situation happened. This situation will lead to the loss. The handling method to overcome the lost circulation of the Well Xs 12 ¼ hole section was by plugging the hole with Lost Circulation Material (LCM). The materials used were Calcium Carbonat (CaCO3), Diesel, and Kwikseal. The lost circulation handling of Well Xs 12 ¼ hole section in several loss areas were well operated. Though not all the mud returned to the surface, the rate loss was decreased significantly and there was no complication while processing the installation and the cementing of 9 5/8 casing. However, the desirable end depth (productive zone) has been accomplished
