P Penile cancer is a primary malignancy that comes from the epithelial tissue of the penis. The highest prevalence of penile cancer in Indonesia occurs in Bali Province, that is 40% of the total penile cancer cases. One of the risk factors that cause this high number, is the minimum of circumcision. Until now, there are still debated in various studies regarding the correlation between circumcision and penile cancer. There has been no research on this cases in Indonesia. This Research aims to assess the correlation between penile cancer and circumcision.METHODThe Research used a case control study method and took secondary data from male patients in the aged ≥ 40 years at Kapal Badung Hospital in 2011-2021. Samples were taken by purposive sampling in November-December 2021.Calculation number of samples using the Lemeshow formula for about 98 samples (49 case samples and 49 control samples). The data was processed using the SPSS application for Windows version 25.0 with Chi-square method and a significance level of 0,05 to find the relationship and OR value.RESULTThere were 2 samples (4,1%) in the case of group that had been circumcised, and 47 respondents (95,9%) were not circumcised. In the control group, 21 samples (42,9%) were circumcised, 28 samples (57.1%) were not penile cancer and were not circumcised. There is a correlation between circumcision and penile cancer (p=0,000), from OR=0,057 (95% CI 0,012-0,260).CONCLUSIONThere is a relationship between circumcision and penile cancer (p<0,05; OR≠1). Circumcision is the protective factor towards the incidence of penile cancer (OR<1).
