X X field in Sumatra is the fifth largest field which was discovered by PT CPI (Chevron Pacific Indonesia). The field has a long production history since its discovery in 1952 and then, afterward, many wells drilled to produce the oil from the reservoir and first production began in 1971. The oil characteristic of X field is light and with this type of oil, the suitable secondary recovery method is waterflood. The secondary recovery was introduced in 1975 with peripheral injection and pattern waterflood was implemented full field in 1998 to maximize field production. Work mechanism of waterflood is by injecting water into the formation that functions to displace oil towards the production wells (producer) that will increase oil production and may also work to maintain reservoir pressure (pressure maintenance). Analysis of the effectiveness of oil reserves depletion by waterflood in X field is just focused on XS-3 areas of the X South. X field on XS-3 area has 35 wells, there are 12 injection wells, 2 water source wells, 3 observation wells and 18 production wells. Analysis of the effectiveness of oil reserves depletion is calculated by using decline curve analysis method such as trial error and X2- Chisquare Test methods.
