A A trauma or disease may cause the premature loss of tooth so that patient have lack of self-confidence in their daily activities. If is not soonly overcome, this loss of tooth can lead to bone resorption because this resorption process will follow the loosening of tooth. Alveolar bone resorption is a natural process but giving undesirable effect on denture making, there fore it may disturb such function as mastication, phonetic and esthetic. Alveolar bone resorption is caused by 2 factors: local and systemic factors. The local factors which can caused alveolar bone resorption are tooth extraction which is not suitable with the procedure and haven't used the denture for a long time. While systemic disease, vitamin D and calcium consumption with inacurrate dosage are systemic factors that can cause disturbance of metabolism in the body. Immediate Denture is the denture that is being fitted as soon as tooth extraction, can prevent the temporary tooth loss and increase esthetic function. Beside denture wearing, bone resorption can also be prevented by 400-1000 IU vitamin D given per day and 600-800 gm calcium per day.
