M Mengkudu (Morinda citrifolia) merupakan tanaman yangbanyak terdapat di Indonesia. Dilaporkan bahwa ekstrak Morinda citrifolia baikdari biji, buah, dan daun memiliki zat antibakteri. Ekstrak daun Morinda citrifoliadikatakan memiliki daya hambat terhadap pertumbuhan Streptococcus mutans,sehingga dibutuhkan penelitian lebih lanjut mengenai metode ekstraksi mana yanglebih baik. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui perbedaan hambatan pertumbuhan ekstraketanol Morinda citrifolia dengan metode maserasi dan soxhlet terhadapStreptococus mutans ATCC 25175. Metode : Penelitian eksperimental laboratorikberupa uji aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175menggunakan cara difusi pada medium agar darah. Bakteri diberi perlakuan hasilekstrak etanol Morinda citrifolia dengan metode maserasi dan soxhlet dalamkonsentrasi 100%. Analisis data dilakukan dengan analysis of variance (ANOVA)1 jalan. Hasil: Ekstrak etanol daun Morinda citrifolia metode maserasi terhadapS. mutans ATCC 25175 memiliki perbedaan signifikan (p<0,05) terhadap ekstraketanol daun Morinda citrifolia metode soxhlet dengan nilai p sebesar 0,002.Ekstrak etanol daun Morinda citrifolia metode maserasi memiliki rata-rata zonahambat yang lebih besar daripada ekstrak etanol daun Morinda citrifolia metodesoxhlet dengan selisih rata-rata sebesar 4,87. Kesimpulan : Terdapat perbedaanantara ekstrak etanol daun Morinda citrifolia metode maserasi dan soxhletterhadap hambatan pertumbuhan Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175.

N Noni (Morinda citrifolia) is a plant that is widely available inIndonesia. It was reported that Morinda citrifolia extracts from seeds, leaves, andfruits have antibacterial properties. Morinda citrifolia leaf extract is said to havean inhibitory effect on the growth of Streptococcus mutans, so further research isneeded on which extraction method is better. Objectives : To determine thedifferences in growth inhibition of Morinda citrifolia leaves ethanol extract withmaceration and soxhlet methods against Streptococus mutans ATCC 25175.Methods : Laboratory experimental research in the form of antibacterial activitytest on Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175 using diffusion method on blood agar.Bacteria were treated with Morinda citrifolia ethanol extract by maceration andsoxhlet method in a concentration of 100%. Data analysis was performed with oneway analysis of variance (ANOVA). Results : S. mutans ATCC 25175 had asignificant difference (p <0.05) to ethanol extract of Morinda citrifolia leavesmethod by the soxhlet method with a p value of 0.002. Ethanol extract of Morindacitirifolia leaves with maceration method has a higher inhibition zone meancompared to Morinda citrifolia leaves ethanol extract with maceration methodagainst Morinda citrifolia leaves ethanol extract with soxhlet method. The meandifference is 4.87. Conclusion : There is a significance difference between theethanol extract of Morinda citrifolia leaves with maceration and soxhlet methodson the growth inhibition of Streptococcus mutans ATCC 25175.
