D Dewasa ini elastomerik sintetik makin banyak digunakan dalam kedokteran gigi khususnya bidang ortodontik. Elastisitas elastomerik sintetik akan berkurang seiring berjalannya waktu yang disebabkan oleh beberapa faktor, di antaranya waktu dan temperatur. Masyarakat sering kali menyantap makanan yang bcrtemperatur tinggi dan langsung dinetralkan dengan mengkonsumsi minuman yang bertemperatur rendah. Penelitian ini menggunakan elastomerik sintetik ELAST-O-LINK dan Innobrace. Dari setiap merk dibuat 30 buah sampel kontrol dan 30 buah sampel perlakuan. Sampel perlakuan direndam dalam air bertemperatur 10°C dan 60°C bergantian tiap 5 menit selama 30 menit, dengan 3 kali pengulangan dalam interval waktu 7 jam. Kelompok kontrol direndam dalam air bertemperatur 37°C, demikian juga sampel perlakuan selama interval waktu 7 jam. Dari data yang diambil setiap 3 hari perendaman, didapatkan jarak regang yang lebih besar pada sampel perlakuan dibandingkan dengan sampel kontrol. Uji statistik Wilcoxon menunjukkan ada perbedaan yang signjfikan antara jarak regang sampel perlakuan dan sampel kontrol. Uji statistik Mann-Whitney menyatakan bahwa tidak ada perbedaan jarak regang yang bermakna antara sampel perlakuan ELAST-O-LINK dan lnnobrace. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa perubahan temperatur mempengaruhi elastisitas elastomerik sintetik.

N Nowadays there are more applications of synthetic elastomeric chain in dentistry, especially in orthodontics. Elasticity of synthetic elastomeric chain will decrease periodically caused by several factors, including time and temperature. People of communities often eat foods with high temperature and neutralized it immediately by consuming beverages with low temperature. In this study, synthetic elastomeric ELAST-O-LINK and Innobrace were used. Thirty control samples and 30 treatment samples were made from each brand. Treatment samples were immersed in water of 10°C and 60°C alternately every 5 minutes for 30 minutes, there were 3 repetitions with intervals of 7 hours. The control samples were immersed in water temperature of 37°C, as well as treatment samples during the interval of 7 hours. From the data collected every 3 days of immersing, the distance of strain got larger in treatment samples compared with control samples. Wilcoxon statistical test showed significant strain differences in distance between treatment samples and control samples. Mann-Whitney statistical test stated that there were no significant strain differences in distance of elastomeric chain between the sample of ELAST-O-LINK and Innobrace. It can be concluded that changes in temperature affect the elasticity of the synthetic elastomeric chain.
