L Latar belakang : Salah satu cara memutihkan gigi adalah menyikat gigi dengan pasta gigi pemutih. Banyaknya keanekaragaman penawaran produk pasta gigi pemutih di pasaran menyebabkan masyarakat haras pintar dalam memilih produk pasta gigi pemutih yang paling efektif. Setiap produk memiliki kandungan bahan pemutih yang berbeda-beda. Keefektifannya perlu diuji terhadap pewamaan gigi eksternal, seperti : kopi. Tujuan: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perubahan warna gigi dengan berbagai pasta gigi pemutih. Metode : Sampel direndam dalam larutan kopi selarna 2 minggu. Lalu dibagi menjadi 4 kelompok berdasarkan pasta gigi yang digunakan. Pengukuran warna awal dilakukan dengan alat VITA Easyshade. Penyikatan gigi dilakukan selarna 14 hari, setelah itu warna gigi diukur kembali. Hasil : Uji kruskcil Wallis menunjukkan terdapat perbedaan bermakna dalam penggunaan pasta gigi pemutih terhadap perubahan warna gigi. Rata-rata perbedaan pasta gigi dalam memutihkan gigi untuk Pepsodent pemutih adalah 6,3 ± 3,36, Darlie adalah 7,4 ± 4,24, Colgate adalah 8,8 ± 3,55 , dan Pepsodent tanpa pemutih adalah 10,6 ± 0,96. Kesimpulan : Pasta gigi Pepsodent Whitening adalah pasta gigi yang paling efektif memutihkan gigi akibat pewamaan kopi.
B Background: One way to whiten teeth is by brushing with a whitening toothpaste. A large variety of whitening toothpaste product offerings in the market, requires people to be smart in choosing the most effective whitening toothpaste products. Each product contains different types of whitener. Its effectiveness needs to be tested against external tooth staining, such as coffee. Objective: the aim of this study is to analyze the changes in the color of the teeth with different types of whitening toothpaste. Methods: The sample was soaked in a coffee solution for 2 weeks. Then it was divided into 4 groups according to the types of the toothpaste. Color measurements using VITA Easyshade. Brushing treatment was held for 14 days, then the sample were subjected to a new color reading. Results: Kruskal Wallis test showed that there were significant differences in the use of whitening toothpaste on tooth discoloration. The average difference in tooth whitening toothpaste for Pepsodent Whitening was 6.3 ± 3.36, Darlie was 7.4 ± 4.24, Colgate was 8.8 ± 3.55, and Pepsodent without whitening was 10.6 ± 0.96. Conclusion: Pepsodent Whitening toothpaste is the most effective toothpaste to whiten the teeth due to coffee staining.
