B Bahan cetak alginat banyak digunakan dalam praktik kedokteran gigi. Berdasarkan setting time terdapat 2 tipe bahan cetak alginat, yaitu: fast setting (tipe I) dan normal setting (tipe II). Setting time bahan cetak alginat dipengaruhi oleh rasio bubuk dan air. Pada beberapa prosedur pencetakan gigi, dokter gigi perlu melakukan modifikasi dari bahan cetak alginat tipe normal setting untuk mempercepat setting time dan mencegah penundaan perawatan. Tujuan : Untuk mengetahui pengaruh suhu air terhadap setting time bahan cetak alginat tipe normal setting. Metode : Penelitian eksperimental laboratorik dilakukan terhadap bahan cetak alginat tipe normal setting yang diuji pada 3 kelompok suhu (±15°C, ±24°C, dan ±40°C). Setting time diukur menggunakan penetrometer sesuai ketentuan ANSI/ADA no.18 yang dilengkapi dengan plat kaca dan cetakan cincin logam berdiameter 30mm dan tinggi 16mm. Hasil : Hasil uji statistik menggunakan Uji Kruskal-Wallis (p<0,05) menunjukkan adanya pengaruh suhu air terhadap setting time bahan cetak tipe normal setting yang dilakukan dalam ketiga kelompok suhu. Hasil Uji Mann Whitney juga menunjukkan adanya signifikansi perbedaan rata-rata setting time tiap kelompok suhu (p<0,05). Setting time paling cepat terjadi pada kelompok pengujian dengan suhu ±40°C dan yang paling lama terjadi pada kelompok pengujian suhu ±15°C. Kesimpulan : Terdapat peningkatan setting time bahan cetak alginat tipe normal setting akibat pengaruh suhu air. Peningkatan setting time sebesar 27% lebih cepat pada suhu ±40°C dibandingkan suhu air normal.

A Alginate impression material is widely used in dentistry. There are 2 types based on the setting time: fast setting (type I) and normal setting (type II). Setting time of alginate impression is affected by the ratio of powder and water. In some dental treatments, dentists need to make modifications of alginate impression materials in the normal setting type to speed up the setting time and prevent maintenance delays. Objective : To determine the effect of water temperature on the setting time of normal type alginate impression material. Method : This laboratory experimental study were carried out on alginate impression materials of normal type which were tested in 3 temperature groups (±15°C, ±24°C, and ±40°C). The setting time is measured using a penetrometer in accordance with ANSI/ADA No. 18 equipped with a glass plate and a metal ring mold with a diameter of 30 mm and a height of 16 mm. Results : The results of statistical tests using the Kruskal-Wallis Test (p<0.05) indicate the influence of water temperature on the setting time of the normal type type of impression material carried out in all three temperature groups. Mann Whitney Test Results also showed a significance difference in the average setting time of each temperature group (p<0.05). The fastest setting time occurs in the test group with a temperature of ±40° C and the longest occurring in the testing group is ±15°C. Conclusion : There is an increase in the setting time of alginate impression materials in the normal setting type due to the influence of water temperature. Increased setting time by 27% faster at the temperature of ±40°C than the normal water temperature.
