S Sistem penambangan yang digunakan oleh PT Kaltim Prima Coal adalah sistem tambang terbuka (surface mining). Kegiatan operasi penambangan terhambat apabila kondisi jalan tambang tidak dapat dilalui oleh alat angkut, maka dari itu alat mekanis grader berfungsi sebagai alat memperbaiki jalan tambang. Penelitian pengamatan kebutuhan grader dilakukan pada departemen Bintang dandepartemen Hatari yang merupakan bagian dari MOD (Mining Operation Division)PT Kaltim Prima Coal. Departemen Bintang memiliki 7 unit grader 24 dan 2 unitgrader 16. Departemen Hatari memiliki 8 unit grader 24 dan 4 unit Grader 16.Produktivitas grader di departemen Bintang untuk grader 24 yaitu 51,908 m²/jamdan 25,620 m²/jam untuk grader 16. Produktivitas grader di departemen Hatariuntuk grader 24 yaitu 41,794 m²/jam dan 24,539 m²/jam untuk grader 16. Luasjalan tambang yang ada di departemen Bintang sebesar 647,378 m² dan yang adadi departemen Hatari sebesar 537,230 m². Setelah dilakukan pengamatan,kebutuhan grader masih kurang dengan adanya luas jalan tambang dibagi denganproduksi grader yang ada di departemen Bintang dengan kebutuhan 7 unit grader24 dan 10 unit grader 24 di departemen Hatari. Setelah melakukan upaya denganmeningkatkan waktu kerja grader, kemudian kebutuhan grader di departemenBintang sebanyak 6 unit grader 24 dan 9 unit pada departemen Hatari. Jumlahgrader di departemen Bintang sebanyak 7 unit grader 24 dan 8 unit grader 24 didepartemen Hatari. Agar memenuhi kebutuhan grader pada departemen Hatari,maka disarankan 1 unit grader 24 di departemen Bintang untuk dialokasikan kedepartemen Hatari.

Productivity of Graders in DepartmentBintang for graders 24 are 51,908 m² / hour and 25,620 m² / hour for graders 16.Productivity graders in Department Hatari for graders 24 which are 41,794 m² /hour and 24,539 m² / hour for Graders 16. The mine road area in the Bintangdepartment is 647,378 m² and those in the Hatari department are 537,230 m². Afterobservation, the graders' needs are still lacking with the existence of the mine roadarea divided by the production of graders in the Bintang department with the needfor 7 units of 24 Graders and 10 24 grader units in the Hatari department. Afterincreasing the mining operations to improve the mine road, namely by increasingthe working time of the graders, then the needs of the graders in the Bintangdepartment were 6 graders 24 and 9 units in the Hatari department. The number ofgraders in the Bintang department are 7 24 graders and 24 24 graders in the Hataridepartment.
