P PT Astra Honda Motor adalah perusahaan manufaktur produsen sepeda motor pertama di Indonesia. Demi keberlangsungan motor, engine menjadi salah satu komponen yang penting diperhatikan faktor kualitasnya. Penelitian yang bertempatkan di plant 1, Sunter, mengkhususkan diri pada lini assembly engine yang diketahui memiliki tingkat repair claim next process yang tinggi. Kesalahan pada Bolt Clutch Adjusting, tercatat mendominasi catatan claim produk engine. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk memberikan usulan perbaikan dan pengembangan kualitas bolt clutch adjusting pada assy engine. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan metode reliability (keandalan) dan cost of quality (biaya kualitas) terhadap data claim selama enam bulan, yaitu periode April hingga September tahun 2012, hasil awal yang diperoleh adalah index of fit terbesar bagi distribusi data time to failure adalah 0.9816 (Lognormal) dan time to repair adalah 0.9906 (Normal), berdasarkan pengujian keempat distri usi data kegagalan yaitu Weibull, Eksponensial, Normal, dan Lognormal. Se lain itu,1 di ole nilai Mean Time To Failure sebesar 75.4799 men it dan Mean Time To Repai besar 10.5675 menit. Dengan menghasi lkan perhitungan nilai keandalan sebesar 43.447% maka perlu adanya tindakan preventif dalam menangani faktor-faktor dominan penyebab kegagalan setting bolt clutch pada engine. Pada akhirnya, biaya kualitas menjadi tolak ukur kelayakan penerapan usulan setelah diperoleh persentase penghematan biaya sebesar 51.76%, hasil perbandingan antara kondisi awal dengan kondisi setelah penerapan usulan.

P PT Astra Honda Motor is the first motorcycle manufacture company in Indonesia. For the operational reason of a motorcycle, engine is one most important part to be cared about its quality. This research where is placed at plant 1, Sunter, concerns about engine assembly line which has the fundamental problem resulting in a high number of engine repair claim next process. The aim of this research is to suggest corrective measures and improve the quality of the bolt clutch adjusting in engine assembly. Using observational data obtained over the course of six months, that is, from April to September 2012 coupled with the use of reliability method and cost of quality approach, initial result shows that the biggest score of index of fit for the time to failure data distribution is 0.9816 (Lognormal) and for the time to repair is 0.9906 (Normal), based on all four failure distribution data testing methods namely, Weibull, Exponential, Normal and Lognormal. It also results the Mean Time To Failure and Mean Timer() Repair are 75.499 minutes and 10.5672 minutes. With reliability value of only 43.447%, there is a definite need of a preventive action in handling predominant factors causing failure of bolt clutch setting in engines. Ultimately, cost of quality becomes the basis of the viability of this proposed method after obtaining an overwhelming amount of total saving at 51.76%. comparison between the initial condition and the condition after implement the proposition.
