C Cekungan Sumatera Selatan ialah cekungan busur belakang (back arc basin).

S South Sumatra Basin is a back arc basin. In Which this basin is by the interaction between the Indo-Australian Plate and the Sunda microplate and is one of the areas that has hydrocarbon reserve potential that has not been fully excavated. The research area is in the Baturaja Formation. Lithology in the Baturaja Formation is a carbonate rock, where carbonate rock is a good reservoir for oil and gas and is interesting to study further because it has high heterogeneity. The purpose of this study is to characterize the "RKS" field reservoir. Characterization of reservoir carbonate in a formation can be known using certain methods, such as the Flow Zone Indicator method by identifying the Petrophysical Rock Type based on porosity and permeability values using the Hydraulic Flow Unit, and determining facies and diagenesis based on core data and petrography. The results obtained were lithology types in the reservoir zone were limestone, then the reef system facies that developed in this study were core reef and back reef lagoon. The core reef facies consists of rock type 1 which has a value of FZI ≥ 5.7 micrometers, permeability 4.8 - 201 md, and porosity of 15% - 22% and rock type 2 which has a value of FZI 1.9 - 5.7 micrometers , permeability 2.2 - 189 md, and porosity 12% - 19%. The facies back reef lagoon consists of rock type 1 which has a value of FZI ≥ 5.7 micrometers, permeability 4.8 - 201 md, and porosity of 15% - 22% and rock type 2 which has a value of FZI 1.9 - 5.7 micrometer, permeability 2.2 - 189 md, and porosity 12% - 19%, and rock type 3 which has a value of FZI of 0.21-1.9 micrometers, permeability of 0.1-8.89 md, and porosity of 5% -8, 2%. The results of the reservoir characterization show that the relationship between facies of rock type reef systems is not aligned because it is influenced by the diagenetic process in carbonate rocks and the determination of carbonate reservoir recommendations is in the PGD-2 well.
