Peran mediasi strategic change dalam pengaruh regulatory focus terhadap firm performance dengan environmental dynamism sebagai variabel moderasi
P Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis regulatory focus melalui dimensi prevention focus dan promotion focus, berpengaruh terhadap firm performance yang dimediasi oleh strategic change. Environmental dynamism digunakan dalam penelitian ini sebagai peran moderasi. Novelty dalam penelitian ini memberikan pengetahuan bagaimana regulatory focus mempengaruhi firm performance ketika dimediasi oleh strategic change dalam kondisi environmental dynamism. Penelitian ini diuji dengan menggunakan Persamaan Model Struktural atau Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Data penelitian menggunakan perusahaan industri pengolahan (manufaktur) barang dari logam, komputer, barang elektronik, optik, dan peralatan listrik kategori sedang dan besar di Provinsi KEPRI tahun 2021 dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 222.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa promotion focus berpengaruh signifikan terhadap firm performance sedangkan prevention focus tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Ketika dimoderasi oleh environmental dynamism, promotion focus dan prevention focus berpengaruh signifikan terhadap firm performance. Promotion focus dan prevention focus berpengaruh signifikan terhadap strategic change. Ketika dimoderasi oleh environmental dynamism, promotion focus tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap strategic change sedangkan prevention focus berpengaruh signifikan. Strategic change tidak berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap firm performance baik dimoderasi oleh environmental dynamism ataupun tidak. Novelty penelitian ini ditegaskan dengan hasil penelitian bahwa strategic change mampu memediasi pengaruh regulatory focus melalui dimensi prevention focus terhadap firm performance.Penelitian ini memberikan implikasi teoritis terhadap perkembangkan upper echelon theory bahwa regulatory focus theory adalah teori bidang psikologi yang dapat mendukung pengambilan keputusan strategis untuk bertahan dari kondisi dinamis. Keputusan strategis melalui mediasi strategic change dapat mempengaruhi kinerja perusahaan. Implikasi manajerial dalam penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi kepada perusahaan dalam menentukan tim manajemen puncak. Perusahaan dapat menyusun tim manajemen puncak dengan pendekatan regulatory focus theory dalam menghadapi lingkungan yang dinamis. Selain itu, tim manajemen puncak harus menerapkan strategic change sehingga kinerja perusahaan tercapai. Keterbatasan penelitian ini menyatakan bahwa pendekatan manajemen puncak yang berbeda dapat menggunakan strategi berbeda untuk mencapai kinerja perusahaan dalam menghadapi lingkungan yang dinamis. Sehingga saran untuk penelitian selanjutnya adalah mengkaji berbagai pendekatan karakteristik manajemen puncak untuk memperkaya Upper Echelon Theory. Penelitian selanjutnya diharapkan dapat meneliti pendekatan strategi lainnya yang dapat membantu perusahaan menghadapi tantangan faktor internal dan eksternal untuk mencapai kinerja.
T This study aims to analyze regulatory focus through dimensions of prevention focus and promotion focus, which effects firm performance mediated by strategic change. Environmental dynamism was used in this study as a moderating role. Novelty in this study provides knowledge of how regulatory focus influence firm performance when mediated by strategic change in condition environmental dynamism. This study was tested using the Structural Model Equation (SEM). The research data use industrial companies processing (manufacturing) metal goods, computers, electronic goods, optics, and electrical equipment in medium and large categories in KEPRI Province in 2021 with a total of 222 respondents.The research results show that promotion focus has a significant effect on firm performance whereas prevention focus has no significant effect. When moderated by environmental dynamism, promotion focus and prevention focus significantly effect firm performance. The promotion focus and prevention focus significantly effect strategic change. When moderated by environmental dynamism, promotion focus has no significant effect on strategic change whereas prevention focus significant effect. Strategic change has no significant effect on firm performance well moderated by environmental dynamism or not. The novelty of this study is confirmed by the results of the study that strategic change was able to mediate influence regulatory focus through dimensions prevention focus to firm performance.This research provides theoretical implications for the development of the upper echelon theory that regulatory focus theory is a theory in the field of psychology that can support strategic decision-making to survive dynamic conditions. Strategic decisions through the mediation of strategic change can effect company performance. The managerial implications in this study contribute to companies in determining the top management team. Companies can structure a top management team by approaching regulatory focus theory in dealing with a dynamic environment. In addition, the top management team must implement strategic change so that the company\\\'s performance is achieved. The limitations of this study state that different top management approaches may use different strategies to achieve firm performance in facing a dynamic environment. Future research is to examine various approaches to the characteristics of top management to enrich Upper Echelon Theory. Future research is expected to be able to examine other strategic approaches that can assist companies face challenges from internal and external factors to achieve performance.
